If there are no ponds, rivers and canals, we take water from the underground. The water in the inner layers of the earth is called ground water.

Water sources main from the rain.

When we dig a well, water comes out from the inner layers of the earth. We take this water with the help of buckets, pot and motor pipes.

We can take water by sending pipes into the ground. We can use this water for drinking and other purposes. We use hand pumps to get this water. They called boring pumps.

For irrigation, farmers fix pipes to the motors. We can get more water in less time using motors.

How does water come into ground?

When it rains, some rain water sinks and reaches the inner layers of the earth.

Different kinds of salts are absorbed by the ground water.

That is why; the water in some places is sweet and in some other places is saline.

Generally, in summer season, the ground water level decreases. And the water does not ooze out from the ground. The water level in the wells decreases and almost becomes dry. To get water from the wells even in summer, we have to dig them deeply.

If the ground water level is above the ground level, then it is called water spring.

The water we get from ponds, rivers, lakes and wells consists of many impurities. If we drink such water, we get disease.

So, we should heat and filter the water before drinking.

The water in seas and oceans is saline.

So, we do not use that water for drinking or for irrigation.

The water that is available from the underground is the pure one.

So, we should not waste it.
