Growing Anarchy, Think of a Solution to Gandhian Debacle
This is about Andhra Pradesh, a State in India. We are being torn between various political parties. We are democracy, and we dont know how to solve this.
In successive elections, people have returned a hung parliament. In other words, there has been no majority. Instead of amending the constitution to get proportional representation, the politicians of the country resorted to horse trading, which means paying bribes to the elected Member of Parliament to side their party while forming government.
Obviously the Members of Parliament who have accepted bribes are in better position to ask for more, and they’ve risen upto this expectation. This has been going on for quite sometime, even as average person has been disgusted with it all.
Here is another scenario. In our State, a politician called K. Chandrasekhar Reddy started a new stunt. He has been demanding a separate state for quite sometime, thanks to the blessings of Bharatiya Janata Party, which is a Hindu party that eventually led to demolition of Babri Masjid. Anyway, this party is known to incite people, and create animosity. Had Babri Masjid not been demolished, India would have been much more peaceful. We would have spent less on defense, Kargil war would not have been there, and even the September 11 might not have been there. I believe that the monies collected for freeing Indian hostages was used by terrorists to implement the September 11. But again, as usual, I am straying from the point. By demolishing Babri Masjid, they’ve created a feeling of insecurity in the hearts of muslims in the country. This was followed by Bombay (now Mumbai) riots, and subsequently burning of pilgrims in Godhra. Finally a massive blow was rendered to Muslims in Gujarat, which brought in outsiders in form of Kasab into country. Insurgency along Rajasthan and Kashmir borders has been on increase for quite sometime now, and we are truly short of armed force personnel. Thanks to the politicians and their need for power and need to impose their beliefs.
Anyway, we were talking about K Chandrasekhar Reddy. This man went on fast for quite a few days. He is basically thin, and looks very frail and emaciated when his beard starts sprouting. He has been telling the students that their region is not being looked after, and all their monies are being taken away by people from other region. Because the man looked on his deathbed, and consequences could be severe, and because information about people’s sentiments were wrongly gauged, the home minister went wrong in his assessment of the situation. He made a promise that he never should have. Now, we are all asked to stand by that promise else there could be riots and violence.
