Gun Laws and Control
In the attempt to open some eyes, I wrote this. Enjoy!
Before I begin ranting and raving, let me start off by saying thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my essay(s). I really appreciate it. With that said, we can begin.
I feel the reason we have gun laws is to protect the lives of innocent civilians. Though gun laws are often times weak in appearance, they do an excellent job when it comes to protecting the rights of civilians as well. But unfortunately, they are sometimes misinterpreted.
Let’s think about the United States constitution. Does it do a good job promising Americans what they wish for in terms of gun possession? Yes, but because Americans always have to “have everything”, many patients of the gun community remain rather unsatisfied and disappointed with what our founding fathers established years ago.
Up to this point, it may seem as if I am neutral when it comes to the gun issue. If you do in fact think that, I must feel obliged to inform you that you are terribly wrong (no offense). The truth about my views/feelings/opinions might shock you, but I honestly do no care whatsoever. I think guns and all other weapons should be outlawed (for both police officers, and Americans alike). I hate the idea of something so small, yet so deadly, that can impact one’s life in the blink of an eye.
There is a song titled “Glorified G” by the popular rock band Pearl Jam. It was written after Eddie Vedder (the band’s lead singer) overheard a conversation between two other members of the band. (I am not sure exactly which two members of the band they were.) Anyway, one of the members was bragging to the other about a gun he had just purchased. Eddie, being an advocate for the anti-gun community (unofficially), decided it was wrong and wrote a (sarcastic) song mocking the member (for a lack of better words). And now, because of Ed’s pissed offness (if that is even a word; I’m not sure), we all have a great song to listen to, with a great meaning behind it.
So what does the above paragraph have to do with anything? Well for starters, absolutely nothing. (And that is the point.) You see, guns are highly irrelevant and dangerous. I am willing to bet that there are hundreds and hundreds of adjectives to put in front of the word “gun” that are disgraceful words. Also, like the above paragraph, a gun is quite random if you ask me. I mean think about it. They are basically the separator between life and death “in the hood”. They (guns) are unnecessary as well (like the above paragraph. Although I do think that the paragraph above does add a nice finishing touch).
