Handguns: Self Defense For Honest Citizens

A dangerous predator is hungry. He is, or they are, on the prowl looking for something to fill the hunger. Being survivors and very adept at their hunting, they know to pursue the weak, sick, very young, or very old of their prey. The attack usually comes when the prey thinks they are safe, in their lair or in the herd. Safety in numbers. Livestock, particularly sheep, are preferred victims as they are defenseless and have no will to fight back, only to run, particularly sheep in human form. The governments in the U.S. have effectively notified the predators in our society where large congregations of potential victims will be: restaurants, malls, schools, and national parks.

Let us not forget Suzanna Hupp having lunch with her parents at Luby’s restaurant in Killeen, Texas when a criminal drove his truck into the restaurant and began shooting. Suzanna Hupp had a handgun, but in compliance with Texas law it was in her car. While obeying the law she watched her parents and 22 other people murdered. She could have stopped the killing if she were not an honest citizen. Va. Tech, another flock of defenseless victims. One survivor stated that he still put his trust in the police. The police knew they were dealing with a murderer on campus, but no notification went out until the second series of murders began two hours later. Continue to trust that the police can protect you, 32 Va. Tech students no longer have that option. And if you who are so concerned with the safety of our wild life will recall there have been 2 fatal attacks of humans by black bears in TN since 2000, a 52 year old resident and a 6 year old tourist. A firearm could have prevented both of these deaths. People visiting the beautiful parks feel safe. Meredith Emerson felt safe when she went, unarmed, hiking in the north GA mountains. She was later found murdered and decapitated. People, wake up. There are evil criminals out there. Four such recently carjacked, tortured, raped, and murdered Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom.

Four more have been charged in the murder and mutilation of 94 year old Willie Morgan. Reality is that if you can’t defend yourself the predators, two legged and four legged, will win when they confront you. Another reality is that criminal murders are down in Memphis, while handgun carry permits and justifiable homicides, i.e., self defense against criminal attacks are up. The two go together, and we should support the state and national lawmakers who understand that honest citizens should not have to be defenseless victims.
