Has Grandma Got a Gun?
Gun control issues and how the public might look at it.
I’m 62 and have spent my whole life around guns. I am thankful that we still have our rights to have guns in our homes. The bad guys will always have guns because that is what puts them in the bad catagory but if they have to wonder if the home they want to rob is armed and not just an easy target they may just think twice.
Our fore fathers protected their home from Indians and bad guys. The kids were even taught to shoot and load the fire arms. Think of where we might be if they did not stand up and protect their homes and their land. The frontier ladies knew how to protect themselves out of need.
When I was in high school we had a rifle club and had a good instructor to teach us the safty rules of the gun. I am not sure why that went away but feel that the kids of today are missing a valuable lesson. The awareness of what guns do rest on adults and just saying you can’t have one is going to end the problems.
Making more rules but not carrying out the ones we have just makes the whole system look dumb and ill equiped to handle the issue. There has been several mass shootings, with one in my local area, that could have been prevented if the laws had been obeyed and the gun permit taken away when it should have been. The excuse of them just some how slipping between the cracks does not make sense to me. If they can’t enforce the laws that have been on the books for ages how will adding more help?
I like the feeling of having the bad guys wondering if they try to violate me or my home they may be in danger. If our guns are taken away we all become easier targets because they know we have nothing to defend ourselves with. We do not have body gaurds to protect our every move and I am not sure I would want them.
I hope our rights are never taken away. In these times things are going to get rougher and meaner. Things will considered prizes that have never looked at in this way before. We should all have the right to protect our homes and our families.
