Homeland Security and Fema to Send Alerts to All Cell Phones

Today FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) announced that all new cell phones operating in the United States will be forced within the next two years to receive alerts via text messaging from the government whenever an alert is issued by FEMA. This will include but certainly will not be limited to Terror Alerts, Amber Alerts, Safety and Disaster warnings. In short, they will have your undivided attention regardless of what you are doing.
This brand new system will automatically send terror alerts and “public safety” announcements to your personal cell phone regardless of your desire to receive them or not. You will not be permitted to opt out or decline to receive these messages and they will have total priority on your phone over anything else. Have you ever read the book ‘1984′ by George Orwell? You probably should read it if you have not already done so because THIS IS big brother and it is just one more step toward the full control that government seeks to acquire over your personal life.
They already have Patriot Act rights to wiretap your phone or read your email without a warrant or probable cause. Now they will have your undivided attention when they are speaking (or typing) even if you don’t want it. Some people of course will dismiss the legitimate concern I have over this intrusion into my personal life. Some will say it’s not that big of a deal. For them, I have the following narrative that should easily quell that argument.
It wasn’t a big deal when they put red light cameras up all over. It wasn’t that big of a deal when they put surveillance cameras at every corner, nook and cranny of town. It wasn’t a big deal when they started to pat you down and reach into your trousers when trying to board an airplane to go on vacation. You shouldn’t complain about your personal privacy if you have nothing to hide. Unbutton them and show the government or go to jail. It wasn’t a big deal when they tossed out the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure. That’s all not a big deal for you. It’s the government and they care about you don’t they? But now you MUST receive their correspondence on your personal cell phone even if you don’t want it. No biggie. You don’t have the right and you MUST accept their messages.
