Homeless In America

Homelessness is a serious problem facing America today…

There is a combination of factors in someones life which contribute to their homelessness. Runaways, natural disasters, drugs abuse, and unemployment are some reasons why people become homeless. Some folks believe that the reason most people become homeless is because they are lazy, that is not true. Some people become homeless because they lose their jobs because of cutbacks. Working hard doesn’t guarantee financial security. Many people have their own story on how they became homeless. Some teenage become homeless because they rebel against their parents and runaway and ends up on the streets. Some teenage become homeless because they try to be on their own to fast and ends up having nothing. Other people become homeless because their house gets burn to the ground, and it takes time to get back on their feet so they end up homeless.
I believe that society has a moral responsibility to provide food and shelter for those who cannot do for themselves, but is trying. I feel this way because a person who house burn down or someone house gets destroy by a natural disaster is going to need some help. I think society should help those people until they get back on their feet because they didn’t become homeless by choice. However I think society doesn’t have an moral responsibility to provide food and shelter for those who can do for themselves and they are not trying to help themselves. Those people are drug abusers, who waste their money on drugs and not to better their lives. I also believe that people have the right to live where ever they want . If they feel safer on the streets then in a shelter that is their choice and feelings. I believe that they should go to a shelters however if they don’t want to they shouldn’t be force.
The role discrimination plays in causing poverty…..

Discrimination is to recognize qualities and differences of certain things or persons and making choices based on those qualities. There are six main types of discrimination. Age discrimination is one of them, it occurs when an employer uses age as a determining (and negative factor ) in a job related decision. Age discrimination takes place when an employer denies an applicant a job based on age. Racial discrimination is a long standing issue in American society. Religion discrimination involves the harassment of a person because of his or her religions beliefs or practices. Sex discrimination refers to the gap treatment based on a person sex. Sexual orientation discrimination happens because homosexuals are denied their rights because of their sexual orientation.
I believe that discrimination will never go away, as long as there is people on this earth there will be discrimination of all kind. I believe that women and colored people (blacks, Spanish people, and others) are still being discriminated against when it comes to apply for jobs. Women are looked at as being weak and colors are looked at as being less educated. I believe discrimination is playing a role in poverty when it comes to color people. Color people are being denied jobs because of their skin. A colored person can be well educated and well trained for the job but will not get it. Which would cause them to go looking for another job and they will be stuck at an low paying jobs. This will cause them to be in poverty. I don’t believe that discrimination is a large part of poverty but it is apart.
