How Many Lives Will Political Correctness Cost Us?
Can we finally say Political Correctness has gone to far now that it has cost us American Lives?

How many lives will Political correctness cost us?
By Brad O’Neill
Ok I am going to cross some boundaries here that may make some people uncomfortable I am ok with that. We just had an avowed Muslim that joined our military and took advantage of all the educational benefits only to pay back his country by murdering 12 fellow service men and wounding 30 comrades who probably would have given their lives for him in a heartbeat on the battlefield.
The politically correct among us would have us exercise caution about what we say or who we accuse for this tragedy. I say enough is enough. This man had spoken out against our military and our government long before this incident ever took place. There are reports he had been reprimanded for inappropriately trying to convert soldiers under his psychological care to Islam. I have no problem with sharing your religion but I have a huge problem with a psychologist trying to influence people under his care and apparently so did the army.
Political correctness does not allow us to acknowledge the obvious. We cannot pull out the 5 middle eastern men in line for a flight because we don’t want to hurt their feelings. This is both ridiculous and foolish. Yes it is mildly unfair to those millions of American’s who happen to be Muslim to be singled out and scrutinized at a higher level but our enemy is a Muslim and that Muslim takes advantage of our self righteous indignation at doing what only makes sense. I flew out of Logan airport within a few weeks of 911. A fellow passenger happened to be middle eastern he was pulled aside at every checkpoint and double checked. I happened to be with him at the baggage screening area and again at the gate and both area’s paid extra attention to him. He was frustrated but he cooperated I am fairly certain the man was not a terrorist in fact I believe he was a doctor not that those two things are mutually exclusive. But the bottom line is the safety of the passengers was put before his comfort. In the end he was allowed to board the plane and we all made it to our destination safely no one was really harmed by this.

Yes, a controversial topic – but one that needs to be discussed. We have the same lunacy over here, and it’s high time common sense was brought into the equation. Great article – can I blog it please?

I hate political correctness and wrote a piece about it being destined to fail. However I also disagree with racial profile, as somebody mentioned in another post, more “Christian” Americans kill Americans than Muslims do.

It is nice to know that you are brave enough to address this issue. Too many people are focused on offending people and not protecting people. Thank you

I seriously doubt the guy joined the military all those years ago with the intent of one day shooting a bunch of people.
I do not support political correctness….but to spread hate is wrong too. (as is to push religion on ANYONE)..but if this guy had been pushing Christianity, do you think you would have made this link?

Well written. I guess Timothy McVeigh felt that when he took the issue upon himself.

Hasan was a Muslim. He shouted ‘God is great’ in Arabic as he shot people dead. His colleagues and students had complained about his over-the-top preaching of Islam and anti-American propaganda. He even praised the killing in June of another US soldier by a Muslim American. He was also quoted as saying “Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor.” How did this complete whack-job get into the Armed Forces and why was he not discharged immediately for his commitment to Islamic fascism? World War II was about defeating fascism..and the Cold War about defeating communism. Fascism and communism have not disappeared but they have been reduced to virtual meaninglessness in the West by these wars. Islamism is a major force, like fascism and communism. Fascism and communism were always doomed but there is fear Islam may be mutating to something which may have more success. This is a hostile movement..you cannot turn them into your mates..so if imposing tough laws and tighter security protects and keeps people safe..then so be it..stuff political correctness.

Hmmmm, between the article and the feedback, some food or thought.
I don’t know his story well enough to comment on him, though history books are full of people killing in the name of God.
Personally, I think TSA is ill equipped to manage our airports. Shortly after 9/11 we flew across country. I was more scared of the 18 year old reservist with a machine gun than any terrorist. They (9/11 terrorist) flew out of our hometown and did every thing by the book. It is easy to be a terrorist, hard to catch one. We should study how Israel secures their airports. I’m tired of taking my shoes off!
Thanks,
Clay

I agree with Ellewood. This is a very good article at any rate. I don’t think ANY religion should push themselves onto others, I hate it and had very many bad years spent in a marriage where my in-laws made my life miserable over this same issue. Needless to say-ex-husband now.
