How to Get Us Student Visa

There are two categories of nonimmigrant visas for foreign nationals wishing to study in the United States. The “F” visas are reserved for non-immigrants who are eager to pursue academic studies and / or language training programs, and the “M” visa is reserved for non-immigrants who wish to pursue non-academic or vocational training.

Each time students enter and exit the United States, they will receive a new I-94 card authorizing their stay and indicating the time. When the students were in the U.S. on a M-1 visa for one year (or whatever time they have given) and they want to stay longer, they may request a two-year extension of their I- 20 and designated school official. F-1 students can apply for extension of stay indefinitely as long as they continue to maintain their eligibility status and DSO grants an extension to complete the studies.
