Human Priorities are Warped

This article, could be, although it is not meant to be, offensive to some. It forces us all come to terms with our own hypocritical beliefs.

A very popular internet classifieds site has no place to post for the solicitation of information, and as a matter of fact people will rudely tell you that it is inappropriate to post these requests for information or for help on this very site that has pictures posted of human genitalia, and a bizarre depiction of a man "making it" with a man-sized scorpion.

Our senators, many of which undoubtedly received several boons from companies like AT&T and Verizon, hold the future of the internet in their hands, and the average American, particularly those who rely on the internet for business or pleasure are remaining surprisingly quiet. The term "internet neutrality" means very little to

the average person, but when the telephone and cable giants, and our easily bought and paid for senators have their way, and the cost of quality internet services skyrockets, and the conglomerates get to dictate what sites we can or cannot see, giving preferential treatment to the wealthiest of clients–then the people will complain, and it will be too little too late.

Our last president lies about a sexual indiscretion, and the call for impeachment rings loud and clear, while the current president can lie about matters of national and international relevance, and the cry for impeachment is nonexistent.

Many who are of the conservative persuasion call themselves Christian, yet they have no qualms with supporting the war in the Middle East and their party commander-in-chief who used Jesus for political gain. "Thou shalt not kill" is a commandment of the Christian god these people are overlooking.

But these misguided Christians aren’t the only religious hypocrites. To be fair, many who classify themselves as religious pick and choose their scripture to fit their preferences.

In an interesting note, even the occasional atheist can be heard crying out to God in times of anger, sadness, and utter duress.

Even now, someone who is now reading this is highly disgusted or insulted, or someone who started to read this, and in disgust stopped reading it–they fail to realize that only those things that ring of truth–truth that we would rather deny–have the power to upset or anger us.

All of us are hypocrites at one time or a thousand, but one thing remains clear–that we, as individuals, and as a society really need to evaluate our priorities and our overall belief systems.
