I Am Hungry

by truth2bknown in Issues, November 4, 2009

The Homeless people need help and it is not always a drinking problem or drugs that makes families homeless. Can I ask have you helped a homeless person out or have you just turned your head and walked away?

I was walking into the grocery store today and there was a young man standing by the entrance door and in a soft voice he asked me “could you spare some change for food?” I told him I would not give him any money, but I would buy him a HOT MEAL, he looked shocked so I told him I would be right back and I went into the china food express and ordered him a dinner plate and a drink. I was talking to the employees behind the counter and he said “what do you want on the plate?” and I said “I do not know it is not for me it is for the young man standing outside” and the guy says well I hope he eats it, I was like I am sure he will he is hungry.

That is the problem with our World today, we assume too much, the employee assumed that the man was not really hungry and automatically became negative about it.  We need to take that extra step and give just a little more if we can, a bag of chips or fruit helps.

I went outside with the food and the young man looked at me and said “Thank you and Bless you!” I turned around and walked back into the store and when I came out  he was sitting down  eating and drinking like he had gone without both for some time. I was happy to see he was eating, I do not know where his next meal will come from, I cannot save everyone but I will do the best I can without making my own family go without.

Homelessness is a scary thing and many do not want to discuss it, many do not want to admit that they are one paycheck away from being homeless. It is a true and sad fact that half the families in the USA would become homeless if their bread winner lost their job.
