Said former U.S. ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk said Thursday that if there has been no development until September next Middle East peace process, counted at the United Nations to establish a Palestinian state.
Was quoted by Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post today Indyk as saying “It’s not the case in the United States and Israel and the Palestinians an alternative, he will vote with the United Nations in September next lead to the recognition of a Palestinian state as the United Nations recognized Israel in 1948.”
He said Indyk, who is currently an adviser to the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, that the United States has no veto (veto) in the General Assembly of the United Nations, has voted against the resolution but that will not stop him.
“The tactical, very easy for the Palestinians to go to the United Nations or cost them any thing and to put pressure on Israel, and Istratgia, Israel will have to think of the day following the vote for that in the event of recognition of Palestinian state will become Israel an occupier of a Member State of the United Nations “.
Indyk pointed out that the United Nations recognition of a Palestinian state in September next, will prove the point of view the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) that “there is no justification to negotiate and will encourage violence.”
The real question is to find a way to return to the negotiating table, suggesting that Israel accept the Palestinian state by the pre-1967, and the approval of the replacement land to append the settlements to Israel.
Indyk pointed out that Washington is confident the ability of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to achieve peace.
