Is College Really Neccessary Anymore?

Have you noticed today’s job market, well I’m sure you have if you watch the news, It’s Not looking good.  I know this from personal experience.  Let’s go back to the 80’s or 90’s, Sure you went to High School, got out made the average income, you went to collage you were basically rich, at least majority of the people who went to continue there education were considered wealthy.  Now today, like myself Graduated with a degree in Computer Science with almost a 3.5 G.P.A (considered above average).  I also am about to complete another in Business Management, to this day however I still cant find any work with my degree(s).  I feel like I am wasting my time and money.  I had a few interviews and they all want relevant work experience, but these companies don’t consider your “school or study” part of your experience, they want on the job experience.  I can’t seem to get a break.  The way I see it is that the ratio to collage graduates to jobs in the field is in poor balance, lets say for instance in a Average size city there are 50 graduate from the local university that spring and there are only about 25 available jobs throughout that year in that field that these companies in the entire city and neighboring cities are offering. I’m afraid of the outlook in the next five years.  I know they economy is bad, but look at how high the unemployment rate is now compared to 30 years ago.  I also believe that most collages are just like any other business, they don’t care about what happens to you when you graduate, they just want your money so they can still have a steady income and not have to worry about the things you do, granted that some professors and instructors do care and will try to help, but really most of them don’t they just tell you “good luck” as you walk down the stage receiving your degree.  However, you don’t really hear about this particular subject on the news, am I the only one who notices this?
