It doesn’t have to be this way

Generally South African young people have great aspirations and enormous expectations of great things from the future. Yet reality of life today is harsh; rapid change, emotional turmoil, abuse, violence, suicide, poverty, vandalism, hunger, political pressure, economic frustration, the latest disease xenophobia and social injustice, all such things form part of the variables which must be faced by young South Africans. East-west, south-north, home sweet home fact is, life is tough, difficult, and painful. Hence I see it fit and actually encourage that we need to be able to look at our own situations and decide to be the very best we can be within these situations.

It helps at nothing of us to curse and scream to circumstances, such act improves nothing but victimize our freedom – freedom of choice. Let’s rather learn to talk about our hurts and pains that we encountering at all time, articulate our feelings and so embark on a road which honestly state “it doesn’t have to be this way”. Let’s excises the power of interdependence, only if we can allow ourselves to combine our efforts with our peers to achieve our leaders’ greatest successes. Should you have a dream for your future, should you realize that life doesn’t have to be this way, and have determination to be positive, have courage to go in search of your inspirations and take hold of all the opportunities life has to offer, I promise you not to find it mostly difficult to decide to decide right for your own life! There is enormous dignity in being able to chart the course of your life, and which much of it has to do with escaping the determinism to which many become accustomed of.

Life has value. We must strive find its value, how? Through determining our value to it and go for it. Living life with all its challenges, changes and choices to the full – for that’s what make life worth of living. Life is God given to us and it only meant to be fun, challenging and definitely worth of living. Tony Campolo has this to say about life and being fun, I quote “Learning how to have fun is one of the most serious subjects in the world. Without fun, marriages don’t work. When jobs aren’t fun, they become intolerable and dehumanizing. When children aren’t fun, they are heartbreaking. When church is not fun, religious become a drag. When life is not fun, it is hard to be spiritual.” Your attitude is as important as your skills, talent, potential to grow and have your share of opportunities and experience meaningfulness of life’s intellectualism. Dream big life will give to your determination.
