It is Not Okay to be Gay
Having to face reality without training wheels.
In March I did an interview with a minor actor named Keith Hamilton Cobb and published the item in April. Not a very important actor nor a very important interview. But a very important principle. Homosexuality is not acceptable.
The comments I have received from his so called fan(atic)s are so homophobic I’ve had to be deleting them with both hands. The anger that the man of their dreams is Gay (and one knows the kind of dreams these females have) thinly masks their revulsion at homosexuality.
Unlike the usual Bible-thumping; ‘abomination’ shouters, who make no pretense of acceptance, these so-called fans attempt to dismiss the possibility of their ‘beloved’ being gay because deep down, hidden beneath the politically correct rhetoric, homosexuality is repulsive to them.
In California the Gay community thought same sex marriages would be a slam dunk. ‘Everyone’ was ‘pro’, ‘Everyone’ fought against the bigots. Then came Proposition 8 and reality.
America has become a nation of say one thing, do another. A nation where people ‘know their lines’ so express carefully constructed remarks in public while betraying their real feelings in private. Taking their public face as true the Gay community is led into a false sense of acceptance. Led into the belief it is only a small population which is homophobic.
What I have come to believe is that a very large segment of the population is anti-gay but hides behind a Politically Correct set of behaviours. The only time honesty peeks through is when someone they lust after proves to be homosexual or they are asked to vote on a ‘Gay’ issue.

Interesting, and thought provoking. Makes me take an honest look at myself. I don’t think this double standard is reserved for gay/homosexual issues. Same goes for racism, atheism, and many etc. Nobody is a racist until their child wants to marry one of ‘them’. Nobody has anything against another religion, so long as they convert. And patriotism rules. As long as we all toe the line.
Thanks, LE. You’ve scratched the surface.

I think the interview opened the door on a great number of possibilities due to the reactions which seem very clear to me that it is an ‘us’ vs ‘them’ kind of thing as you so well put.
