It’s Not Our Fault

I am so tired of working for a place and people come in and scream at you because prices are raised or something is broken and you have no control over it.

I work at a well known fast food restaurant.  I am so sick of people coming in because their item they want is not on a certain menu or that our gift card part of our computer was down for three weeks.  We finally fixed the gift card part of our computer.  The point is, it wasn’t my fault!  The company I work for were the problem.  I just work there for crying out loud! Some of you people are so rude and belittle people for no good reason.  I am just a peon employee and circumstances are beyond my control.

Another thing that some of you do is treat fast food workers like they are stupid.  We are not!  Again, circumstances beyond our control.  No one takes that idea into consideration.  How do I handle these situations? Well, I am extremely nice to them, fill their order, check them out and tell them have a nice day.  That pisses them off even more because they can’t say you were rude to them or treated them with disrespect.  They did not get to me.  I have learned over the years not to let it get to me.  Maybe I also taught someone to actually be nice to people.  I certainly hope so.

I am teaching people in my industry how to handle their circumstances without losing their sanity.  Believe me, this is a hard industry to work in and you can’t be stupid or lazy to work in it.  I do have one question though. Why is it the people who complain about prices are the ones who can genuinely afford to eat there? I can’t afford to eat at restaurants every day.  These people can!  The people who should be complaining are the people who were hit hard by this recession.   If you can afford it, please do not complain!
