Journalists Are Not Criminals
It was shocking to know that North Korean authorities had ordered two female journalists to 12-year in jail with hard labor. Why so hard punishment?
This is not first time that journalist who put their lives on risk to provide the current news to the world and in return some time they get is rest in peace and some time jailed. It was shocking to know that North Korean authorities had ordered two female journalists to 12-year in jail with hard labor. Why so hard punishment?
This is second time when government officials have put journalists in jail to show that they are terrorist by themselves. Military dictator of Myanmar also jailed journalists and also by official’s reports they also killed few local journalists too. This is threat for all who writes freelance in newspaper or on net.
Many terrorist organizations also punished media peoples in previous time including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Sri Lanka and many states of Africa. In previous year more than four journalists has lost their lives performing duties in Pakistan but still the suspect is on trial and cannot be punished.
North Korea, a new member in nuclear weapon line facing UN sanctions for last month’s nuclear test, on Monday openly strike Unites States of America in its growing confrontation with Washington by jailing two U.S. journalists to 12 years hard labor for grave crime. If they are so capable to fight with Unites States of America than they should talk more and more on media to publicize against US but on giving hard punishment to journalists to show the anger against the statement of US state sec Mrs. Clinton was not the right. This act will not only creating negative impact of newly nuclear nation on west but also for strong Asian nations including South Korea, Japan, China, Russia and India.
The journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling, of U.S. media outlet were arrested in March working on a story near the border between North Korea and China. The court trial for both brave journalists working for the media outlet was founded by former US vice President. Now it is necessary for the United States directly take the needful action or through the United Nation to settle the matter as if the journalist will not be freed than more of this profession will get fear in their work.
In my view the case should be taken in the international court where North Korean officials should prove the grave crime and let the international community decide and not by them only.
