Julian Assange: Unedited Telegrams Were Published in The Guardian Negligence
Publication of an unedited version of the American diplomatic telegrams by Wikileaks is the result of negligence of the British newspaper The Guardian, Tuesday said site founder, Julian Assange.
“The Guardian was found negligent,” he said in a videoconferenceorganized Assange the IFA electronics salon, which takes placetoday in Berlin.
“We discovered two months ago that the Guardian published apassword” which provides access to a server that telegrams werein full, explained Assange been under house arrest in Britain afteraccusations of rape and sexual assault.
“Trust” in the British newspaper Wikileaks and “contract” betweenthe two entities were “violated”, he said.
The Guardian is part of the five publications that Wikileaks has worked in the disclosure of telegrams, along with New York Times,Der Spiegel (Germany) Le Monde (France) and El Pais (Spain).
British newspaper, who condemned the publication of thetelegrams unedited, in a joint statement with other partnerpublications, explained that password, which appear in a book about Wikileaks published in February by one of its journalists, would be valid for a few hours .
Assange said however that if the publication of these texts can cause ”some damage”, it will not cause ”significant damage”.
U.S. State Department did not seem ”particularly concerned” whenWikileaks informed of its intention to publish the 251 287 American diplomatic telegrams, he said.
