Junk Food
Junk food can cause many bad problems that can affect a child’s everyday life.
The “junk” in Junk Food
Do you ever think what you’re eating before you put it in your mouth? There are many types of food out there. Good food and bad food, Italian food and Mexican food, healthy food and unhealthy food, and so on. Most people don’t make smart choices when they choose what to eat. When given a choice, junk food or healthy food, kids usually choose the food that tastes better or looks better (which is usually junk food), instead of the food that is better for you. I think that kids aren’t responsible enough to make that decision for themselves. The first step in helping the U.S.’s “fat” problem is to take action and ban junk food in schools! Junk food is extremely bad for you. It causes obesity, high blood sugar, diabetes, and other really bad diseases. Kids and even adults tend to eat this hazardous junk a lot. People don’t usually check if the food they are eating is good for them; as long as it tastes good, they will eat it. Junk food also gets in the way of students’ education. Junk food is not only bad for your body, it is also bad financially. Do you really want that stuff in our schools?
Junk food is extremely hazardous to your health. It causes obesity, diabetes, high blood sugar, hypertension, osteoporosis, cardio vascular diseases, and other bad things. Obesity is second only to smoking as the leading cause of death in the U.S. Not many kids have self-control. If they are given the choice between junk food and a piece of fruit, they would probably choose the junk food; even though they know it is bad for them! Every day, the average kid needs 2 ½ cups of fruits and vegetables. Yet the average kid nowadays only eats ½ cups of fruit and ¼ cups of vegetables a day of each! Our nation’s obesity problem has gotten a lot worse lately. Over the last few years, the number of overweight kids in the U.S. has doubled! If we don’t start by banning junk food in schools now, imagine how our “fat” problem will be in a few years. Most kids already have junk food access at home; why make it worse by having junk food at easy access at school, too?
