Justice Today
Is there still justice in this world?
What is justice? If you look in any dictionary today you will probably find the following definitions: “what is right, fair, deserved”. But is there any justice today? In this week’s Issue of “The Chicago Sun-Times” there was a story about a hate crime against a Muslim woman. What happened was that a Caucasian woman made a comment about the murders in Fort Hood and she said that the shooter wasn’t American, that he came from the middle east. Amal Abusumayah, the woman that was attacked, ignored the comments and kept minding her own business. Moments later, in the checkout line, Valerie Kenney pulled Abusumayah’s hijab -her head scarf-. Kenney could face 3 years in jail for a hate crime. The Tinley Park Police Department sure made a difference by not letting this slip. From what I read, in this world there is still a small bit of justice for citizens. This is one less problem of injustice the world has to deal with. Hopefully, citizens will see that there is justice in this world.
