Katrina After 5′
A recap of what happens in New Orleans after five years when Katrina hit and what we as good Americans should be doing today. It is not what happened yesterday or will happen tomorrow but what is within us today that counts.
Katrina After ‘5
It has now been five years since Katrina hit the shores of New Orleans devastating the whole city. Many lives were lost in the aftermath along with business’s, and public buildings. Schools were completely destroyed along with hospitals and other important places like government offices. The horrible truth is that some things will never be replaced like a person’s personal possessions and most of all any life that was taken. This major catastrophe was compounded by the fact that it took 5 days before help started going their way. Five whole days before anyone heard their cry! Where the President and what were he thinking? People all over America were willing to pitch-in and help giving of themselves and of their means even some foreign countries offered to send over food and money to help the people in the area. It took 5 Days before any response was made. You could hear their cries all around the world but not in the White House. President Bush could not gain glory from helping these poor people in their time of need and let us not forget this when we are thinking about putting anyone into a political position. We need good descent politicians that are willing to work for the people when they are in need.
Today it is said that many people have returned to New Orleans and have rebuilt their homes and business’s and this is a good thing. After five years of suffering some business’s are just now reopening, schools are returning providing even better educational methods to the students and hospitals are better able to help the people who are sick. This is a great thing and one of the things that shows what American people are really made of when it comes to our survival techniques. We as a nation have been there to help others around the world when they are in need and we help each other in our own country too. We as a nation have stood for many good things and still today we are able to prove that we have good morals, show honesty, and care about others. When you think about people who are still working to help the people who suffered so much in loss like Brad Pitt for instance trying to rebuild area 9 districts yet today you wonder why we cannot find that caliber of person to run our government. We are at a bigger loss in honesty and integrity in our government than any other position in the nation. After ‘5 applies to our politicians as a whole and as individuals each should dedicate themselves to the restructuring of our nation instead of the pocket lining future that they all envision.
We are all able to maintain our homes and our families by working hard every day and keeping our moral fiber intact as best as we possibly can. It does not matter if we are black, white, brown, democrat, republican, right wing, left wing, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, or no religion at all, legal or illegal as far as that goes it is not what we have done in the past or expect to do in the future but it is what is within us today that counts. We all our people set with moral standards that help us to make decisions and we should not contradict the things that we know if right or compromise in order to gain instead we should try to get along with each other and help build a strong nation.
