Keeping the Poor Down

Subsidizing more for the poor would lift the burden of poverty from society.

Is there justice when the poor are expected to pay the same prices for everything that the rich pay? Is it really fair? There are restaurants that service the rich, and others that service the lower classes. This difference does not affect the poor with hardships. It offers a sense of equality that is fair. The rich can send their children to expensive private schools. The poor can still get an education from public schools. Those who attend public schools have a decent chance to succeed also.

When it comes to income, the rich have all the advantages.  They are financially secure and can afford all the luxeries of life. There is no justice for the poor when laws are made to have the poor pay the same prices for taxes, utilities, court fines, food, etc. This is economic injustice for the poor. It keeps them down. These charges should be adjusted according to income.

Subsidized housing for the poor, allows a tenant to pay only 30% of their income, so they can survive on the rest. Otherwise, rents can cost a persons ENTIRE income. This type of housing is fair and just. However, there are not enough of them for the poor. A rich person living in the same kind of housing without being subsidized, would maybe pay only one percent of their income. That is why they have the choice to live in luxury housing. The poor don’t.

If a rich person runs a red light, they pay the fine without it putting a dent in their income. If a poor person runs a red light, it could cost them half their pay check to pay the fine. This highly affects their ability to pay rent, food, and utilities. They are punished FAR MORE than the rich, for committing the same offense. Justice is about “who” can “buy” their way out of a situation. The poor are at the mercy of the rich.Like subsidized rent for the poor, utilities, food, college, and court costs should also be subsidized. But instead, the rich dream up programs like food stamps, utility assistance and government training programs. All which benefit the rich, and keep the poor under their thumb.

Subsidizing all human needs of the poor would lift them out of poverty instead of keeping them down to guarantee that the rich have jobs running these programs, that offer nothing to the poor. “It will be harder for the rich to get to heaven than  a camel going through the eye of a needle” (Luke 18:25) Manipulating the poor by way of PRETENDING TO HELP THEM, will not resolve the issue of poverty.

Very true, especially the last line. It is too bad that society cannot learn that wealth is attainable without having to create a society of poor people. There will always exist differences among people but that does not need to overshadow the economics of people. The sad fact remains that those currently considered rich are simply afraid to lose what they have and do not wish to let go of an archaic system which also grants them the power to control. Man was granted dominion over all the animals…not over each other.
