Kid Consumers

In recent times, children have spent millions or billions of dollars. They influence their parents into things that they buy. So what have advertisers used to attract children?

Children spend lots of money. They spend things with their pocket money or money they earned from work or from their parents pockets. Children spend millions of dollars on toys, food (especially lollies) and other things they want. Children influence parents to buy things. They choose the holiday location and even what food to buy!

Why do Parents Buy Children Things they want?

Parents buy children what they want as a child is very persuasive! If a child wants candy and their parents say no, the child will throw a tantrum and start throwing some products around and cry. This will make the parent or parents feel embarrassed and angry forcing them to buy their son/daughter the things they want!

Advertising Strategies

Advertises deliberately target children. They put ads for toys and foods during the children programs. They even make a TV program just to make a toy! At one point in time, the top ten most sold toys were the main characters of a TV programs like Transformers and Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles. They even take advantage of programs by adding the TV program logos and characters onto the packaging of the food! When a child goes past it, they recognise the TV show characters and instantly want it because it tastes “better” than a normal food.

Some fast food restaurant (especially Macdonalds) make toys of the characters off movies and TV shows to attract children into eat their product! And when the child sees the toy on TV, they nag their parents into buying the fast food toy.

Supermarket Advertising Strategy

Supermarkets use sorting strategies to win the eye of a child. They have aisles with different foods. Some with chip, drinks, lollies, etc. This may look neat to a consumer, but it usually to attract the attention of the little ones. They also have neat little hangers or boxes with chocolates, lollies, chips, etc. This would also draw the attention on to your children.

Internet Ads

On the internet, your children aren’t safe. The internet is full of ads. Some ads are part of the game and some are around the game. For example, you may buy your child a toy that allows them to access an internet virtual world to buy things and talk to friends. For it, they have to tell their birth date. When it is their birthday, they will say buy this toy. Some games put the ad inside the game. For example an Oreo game. And some games have the ads on the side of the game.

Ads at School

Some schools in America are adding logos of popular food restaurants. Like a stand that has a Coke logo and a basketball court with a Pizza Hut logo or a vending machine. Schools do this for the extra income. What they don’t know is the extra amount of money the kids will spend on the foods.

You have pinned the tail on the donkey, Yes we don’t want to be embassed by our children in public, but worse, here in New York, a woman had the police called on her because her child curse her out, which was unbelieveable, she reacted with a smack across the child’s lips, not to harsh. Guess what, the police was called, Damned if you do and damned if you don’t
No flows very easily off my tongue, but my daughter does push my buttons
