King Obama Holds Court

It was a clear night in November when the serfs stood by the bridge to the great white castle of Obama. They were awed by the beauty and the glimmer of the royalty as they came from neighboring royalties to celebrate with the king.

The children cried as their parents watched, knowing they would go to bed hungry tonight for all the food had been taken into the castle for the great celebration in honor of King Obama.  The old people swayed holding to each other for they knew as the fires burned down, the cold would creep in and many would not last the night.  A great white horse rode through the crowds as the General of Obama’s armies came to plead for food and weapons for his men.  “Begone” said King Obama to the General.  “Can you not see this is an important event with many important people here?”  The General sighed heavily as he realized that the great King Obama would not hear his pleas for his men who were cold, hungry and in need of new weapons to fend off the enemy.  As the last of guests entered the courtyard, King Obama came to the window and welcomed the royalty to his celebration.  He assured them that all would be well and scoffed at the rumors that his kingdom was not strong.  He bade them: “Listen to me, for I tell you that all is well”.  As his words were cupped in the hands of the cold wind, his General forlornly rode off to tell his troops that they must wait.  As he passed the last of the royalty, he heard the cries of the children and the moans of the elderly who were destined to die because no one cared.  It would be a cold, cold winter for all, except the King and his staff who lived in the great white castle and feasted on the foods the serfs had grown, and counted the tax money from the land owners.  As he passed into the woods, a bitter wind blew threw the trees, stirring up tiny tunnels of debris over the now barren ground.  Behold, behold the king, he heard as he rode on. Behold, behold the king.
