Liberal and Conservative News Bias
Liberal and Conservative news companies take different approaches to the way they tell the news.
Newspaper reporters have their own biased views about the news. More specifically, members of the Liberal and Conservative political parties have major differences in the newspaper articles they write. For example, two articles were recently written on Barack Obama winning the primary in Wyoming. One article was written in the liberal New York Times and the other in the conservative Wall Street Journal. Both were written on the same topic, but ended up having different views, details, and emotions on the same topic. It becomes easy to see that the article’s content takes on either the liberal or conservative point of view and leads the reader to a certain side of a topic.
The New York Times has more of a positive attitude toward Obama winning Wyoming. It likes to constantly talk about Obama’s win, or how Obama is really close to winning. This paper also liked to speculate as to how he could be the next president of the United States. In contrast, The Wall Street Journal takes more of a neutral approach to Obama’s win. This newspaper mostly talks about the status of both Obama and Hillary Clinton’s campaign trail.
The mood of the articles is not the same even though they were written on the same topic. The New York Times’ article has much positive emotion for Obama for winning Wyoming. The article went on a lot more detail about Obama leading the primary elections. The Wall Street Journal article, however, didn’t have much excitement about Barack obtaining his win. The article spoke on facts about Barack and also mentioned Hillary and spoke of her progress in the election.
Each article appeals differently to the people who read it. Those who read the article by The New York Times will be enlightened about Obama winning the primary. While reading this article they would feel more emotions than if someone were to read The Wall Street Journals’ Story. Their article gave a bland and general view which lacks the content of favor. Also, this article would give an appeal to the readers to almost not have to pay much attention or not care much about these candidates.
Although two articles are written about the same topic, they do not stress the same opinions on that topic. The liberal and conservative articles took totally different approaches on the matter of Barack Obama winning Wyoming in the primary elections. These articles swayed people to believe in the different ideas expressed by the different reporters. The articles will be bias and influence readers to see their point of view in their article.
