Looking Forward to The Cuts
Quick look at the cuts in government spending in the UK and some of the impact.
The date of 21 October will in future years be remembered as either the greatest financial boost to a countries economy ever undertaken or the biggest attack ont he poorest in society depending on which side of the fence one sits.
Many of the proposals so far “leaked” to the press are sound-bites designed to weaken the blow that middle class families are are about to face.
Open ended arguments in the press about the amount of funding for “our valiant and glorious troops” serve only the governments desire to keep ploughing money into the black hole which is trident due I am sure to some black ops pact with the American government, possibly an undertaking to purchase made by successive governments so as to still be under the umbrella of the USA and its finest. Lets face it with the changes in warfare over the past ten years and in particular the upsurge in terrorist attacks as opposed to actual war zones the whit and wisdom of having a nuclear deterrent when the main threat comes from a bloke with a back-pack is laughable.
The main point of this government having a nuclear capability is a vested interest in keeping some form of cold war going, if not with USSR then terrorist regimes such as Iran and North Korea neither of whom will ever have the capacity to attack the western world with any venom simply because they would/will be eliminated from their desires by the threat of invasion, yes many in the west will point out that Arab Muslim nations would be against it but I would argue that they would not as they have no desire to see Iran grow into a dominating force in the middle east with their present government.
Aside from the defence budget another compelling argument by Gideon and his friends is that welfare cheats cost the government (ergo the tax payer) £1.2 billion so must be curtailed and despised by all; brought before the courts and punished. well here is a thought Just how are these devious calculating cheats going to pay fines imposed for their wrongdoing? more to the point when are the government likely to attack those at the other end of the scale who cost this government (the tax payers again) well over £100billion through tax evasion and outright fraud.
