Mainstream Media Idles as Mourning Spirits Need Answers About Pvt. Danny Chen
The media carefully selects what news are reported based on the interests of society. The freedom of America is limited to what those in power want you to hear, see, and know. There remains many unheard voice that deserve attention, respect, and justice.

“The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact, non-Westerners never do.” – Samuel P. Huntington
I have been a lifelong avid reader of many literary works particularly war history, documentaries, and fiction for years before the unjust death of Pvt. Danny Chen on October 3rd, 2011. Virtuous soldiers in battle offer unconditional loyalty, strength, and sacrifice for their country and their brethren.
Among all the virtues I have observed from various texts, the most notable mention is the untouchable bond between soldiers of all ranks. With no military background whatsoever, my assumption that the U.S. Army teaches the same divine values that built our great nation has been shattered to undecipherable pieces.
Hundreds of defeated spirits attended the funeral of Pvt. Danny Chen on October 13th, 2011 (see below photo). With a “pending investigation” in order, those in mourning have no answers to find closure.
What is to become of our society when the most diverse country in the world cannot guide their own? Why are the parents and friends of Pvt. Danny Chen riddled with grief? Is it for the purpose of teaching a lesson or making a point? Was Pvt. Danny Chen abused because he was Asian? These are just some unanswered questions that relentlessly haunt those who knew and loved the young soldier.
Pvt. Danny Chen, a supporter of Operation Enduring Freedom, was an honors student and victim of racial abuse. He was evidently targeted because he was different, he was deemed less than deserving by his superiors and certain peers.
Those who knew and loved Pvt. Danny Chen are left only with happy moments from the past simply because others without sense literally dragged him away from his future. This New York native was only 19 years young and enlisted himself into the service without the knowledge of his parents.
The death of Pvt. Danny Chen has shattered the hopes of loved ones intertwined with him, but his tragic story has barely dented the nation. Less than 2 weeks have passed since the unfortunate event and media reports covering the case of Pvt. Danny Chen have already diminished and dwindled down to a depressing level.
