Making Our Roads Safer
How can we really make our roads safer, when the majority of the population could care less about you and I!

Everyone wants to make our roads safer, but how; what has changed that has caused more accidents, driving/moving violations? Are the driving schools not instructing their students properly, or has the licensing of new drivers become too easy! Has the police department developed better technology, have the people really stopped drinking and driving. To answer these questions it is actually very easy, the answer is no, the reason the roads have become so dangerous has to do with the number of drivers, the stress most people live with, and families moving further apart.
Many years ago, more people drank and drove than ever, and it was not a big thing, because the roads were not as congested and people had respect for one another. That is all in the past, not to say that it is all right to “down a few shots” with a beer or two and get behind the wheel. If your going to drink, let someone else who is not drinking do the driving.
Driving schools, as well as the taking the test have not really changed, even though they do require more practice and experience before they actually allow an individual to take the test. From a personally point, I can see that nothing has changed, the school that help me get my license is working with a family member, and they are teaching the same things that I was taught twenty years ago.
They say no talking on the cell phone unless it is hands free, and that we need to absolutely avoid texting while driving, well that is all common sense; yet we drove with a cigarette in one hand and our coffee in the other. Again I ask what has changed? What has changed is the lack of respect we show to fellow drivers, to other humans, to those we share this world with; many of us feel we have the right away, so move out of my way. Wrong attitude but the sad fact is it exist and unless the human race gets a completely new make over, nothing much is going to change.
