Male and Female Circumcision
Circumcision means the adjustment of external genitalia.
Male circumcision is a surgical procedure in which the foreskin is removed – the skin fold, which normally covers the glans penis. The world is circumcised about 25% of all men share, however, vary greatly between countries. In the U.S., for example, about two thirds of circumcising adult men (the trend is downward).
Circumcision Circumcision and religion is also quite common for religious reasons, even though the roots of this ritual is over. For Jewish boys is a symbolic agreement of man with God. God ordered Abraham to be circumcised as a sign of agreement. Since it is done all Jewish boys. The procedure, in which circumcision is performed by boys, is called Brit Mila. Circumcision is also performed for Muslim boys.
Medical reasons for circumcision phimosis – phimosis, in which the foreskin can be pulled over the glans. Paraphimosis – the same birth defect as in the previous case. Although you can pull the foreskin over the glans, but it is so narrow that it diphtheria, which prevents the blood supply. This situation must be immediately removed. Frequent infection or acorn foreskin. Part of prevention programs against AIDS, particularly in Africa (AIDS / HIV prevention).
Female circumcision is the amputation of some parts of the external genitalia (see photo). Unlike male circumcision, which also has positive health effects, in the case of female circumcision is virtually the only mutilation associated with ill health. Due to the nature of surgery is female genital mutilation refers to the acronym FGM (Female Genital from English mutilation), which translates as female genital mutilation. Female circumcision and religion Even though female circumcision is often associated with Islam, it is a much older ritual and religion have nothing in common. The superficial reason for carrying out the circumcision to be that girl entered into marriage pure and undefiled. The practical result of circumcision, however, lack of sexual experience. In some areas of the uncircumcised girls remain unmarried.
Types of female foreskins types of FGM World Health Organization classified into four groups: Type I – Partial or complete removal of the clitoris in the mildest form, where male circumcision intervention points, it should only go about removing the foreskin clitoris (clit), but often are removed ( amputation) and part or all of the clitoris. Type II – removal of the clitoris and small, eventually. and the labia minora in some cases eliminated only labia minora (Type IIa), or the labia minora and clitoris in part or completely (type IIb) and if there is in addition to partial or complete removal of the labia majora, is known as type IIc . For types I and II is a tradition in Arab countries especially, where is known as “Sunny”.Type III – Removal of small and large labia majora and then suturing after amputation of upper and lower labia wound is sutured so that it remains only a small hole for drainage of urine and menstrual blood. The clitoris may or may not be removed. The wedding night is fused tissue cuts that could lead to sexual intercourse. Before the birth must be removed grow after birth is a previous state restored. This the most brutal type are known as Pharaonic circumcision. Type IV – Other Other types of mutilation, which may or may not be associated with surgery by removing tissue. Includes piercing (piercing), burning, abrasion or cutting. The consequences of female circumcision surgery Circumcision is usually performed at the age of 4-8 years, often in the presence of the mother. Surgery is usually performed without anesthesia, and raging disinfection plus primitive tools, such as broken glass, razor blades, shells, etc.As a result of circumcision may be carried out by a shock that the girl carries a lifetime. The next scheduled appearance is concomitant impossibility of sexual experience, sexual intercourse is then usually associated with great pain and health problems.
Female circumcision – a personal view is that it’s a very tough surgery and I’m really glad that I can live in a civilized world where this very, very rarely occurs. I can not judge anyone what little girls mother motives lead to this very painful and cruel treatment.Source Commons, religion
