Marijuana
Persuasive essay on legalizing Marijuana as a whole, not just for medical use.

Like the other 2.2 million Americans who support it; I am an avid enthusiast on legalizing marijuana. It’s believed to have many helpful effects on our bodies and there is even a receptor in your brain that processes Tetrahydrocannabinol a.k.a. THC, the main component of marijuana. These points, along with a plethora of other solidified points, are the exact reason why the legalization of marijuana would greatly increase government funds, benefit the economy, and promote the medical utilization of the plant.
Legalizing marijuana would only increase government funds, because if the government spent less time arresting people for marijuana related crimes they’d have more time, money, space, etc. for actual criminals. Plus if the government legalized marijuana they could put taxes on it, thus creating more capital to fund research for other things. Marijuana also produces hemp, which could be used as bio-fuel, or another option for oil, which would also greatly increase government money. This would also benefit the economy and possible give quite a few people jobs as distributors, farmers, researchers, etc. Therefore it’s almost ignorant not to legalize the so called “drug”.
However, legalization is becoming more of an accomplishable goal, considering medical marijuana is on a rise and legal. It gives hope that soon enough they’ll see marijuana could be helpful to a lot of medical conditions. Medical conditions such as, glaucoma, cancer, HIV/AIDS, Fibromyalgia, severe arthritis and other chronic pain disorders, Multiple sclerosis, Epilepsy, seizures, and others. The opposing argument will always be “There is no justification for using marijuana as a medicine. The movement to legitimize smoking marijuana as a medicine is not encouraged by the Federal Food and Drug Administration, health and medical associations, or medical expert”. But in the pseudo documentary Super High Me, Doug Benson documents his findings in not smoking pot for 30 days, then smoking a large quantity of it for 30 days. Basically, in this documentary it proves that smoking tons of weed has no effect on your health. In fact, smoking weed relaxes and stimulates the brain, which is why everyone has cannabinoid receptors in their brain to process any THC that comes in.
Sure, marijuana might be considered a drug by many, but by a lot more it’s considered an herbal remedy for headaches, pains, aches, and sometimes just simply a treatment for relaxation. None of which is harming anyone else, it’s a life choice, one which solely depends on the opinion of the user of the “drug”, which is actually just a plant. People can have whatever opinion on the argument that they please, but if the government has already legalized medical marijuana, it’s only a matter of time before they legalize it all together. One things for sure, people aren’t going to stop using, smoking, growing, buying, selling, fighting, researching, etc. marijuana. Marijuana is a hot topic in politics now a days, and I remember when it never was, so that should tell you something right there. There’s numerous benefits to legalizing marijuana, and hopefully Obama sees this side of the argument and will make 2.2 million Americans a lot happier.
