Media Violence Trains Callous Live Balls of Fire

Some researchers have demonstrated that very young children will imitate aggressive acts on TV in their play with peers. Before age four, children are unable to distinguish between fact and fantasy and may view violence as an ordinary occurrence. When they see their heroes even in cartoons using violence to achieve victories, it becomes acceptable to them.

Media plays a key role in the formation of public mindset. Therefore, in this age of cheap ink and oratory the print and electronic media are eyes and ears of the world. A sensational news loving media can never play a constructive role in a society while a responsible mass media can carry out a very positive role in nation building by projecting realities that can help in the formation of positive outlook of the rank and file. Therefore, there must be certain censorship in the news coverage that can have grave impact on the public. After every terrorist activity media personnel reach at the spot in no time due to presence of newshound in major parts of the country that are vulnerable to terrorist activities due to massive pockets of population. The news channels project every terrorist incident time and again that generates indifference and fear in the population.

The hanging of Saddam Hussein was telecast on various TV channels with devious intention by the western crocodiles having fixed their yellow eyes on the resources of Iraq. The clandestine intention of airing this horrific execution was to flare the flames of sectarian clashes between the Shia and Sunni sects to trigger division in Iraq on sectarian lines. The incident was projected with surreptitious intention in unsavory light that led to several unfortunate incidents in which the followers of both sects used suicide bombing and other fanatic ways to wreak vengeance. The counterfeit champions of human rights propagated that a Shia PM Nauri Al-Maliki has finally signed the death sentence of an ex-Sunni President Saddam Hussein. The airing of this horrible incidence has deep psychological impact on the people of the world especially on the kids. Several immature children committed suicide due to deep psychosomatic impression. This reveals that exposure to violence and brutality by displaying gloomy and pessimistic picture of life has deep psychological impact on the immature minds that can deviate them on the wrong side.

Violence in a society is directly proportional to the violent incidents printed and televised by the mass media. According to studies, by the age of 18 an average American child will have viewed 200,000 acts of violence. Dr Eugene V. Beresin, an expert in teenager and adolescent psychiatry said, “Some researchers have demonstrated that very young children will imitate aggressive acts on TV in their play with peers. Before age four, children are unable to distinguish between fact and fantasy and may view violence as an ordinary occurrence. When they see their heroes even in cartoons using violence to achieve victories, it becomes acceptable to them”.1 Media violence gravely affects moppets and bubs because they have unripe mentality. Due to fragmentation of the consanguine families into diminutive nuclear families, the members of the kinship do not share their feelings. Social isolation of the individuals by the mass media has added insult to injury. Due to dilapidation of the family institution parents do not give sufficient time to their kiddiewinks. The dustbin lids with half-baked minds spend most of their time in watching violent and impure movies and playing sadistic and offensive video games. Internet and television cable network have inundated the rooms with sadism. Due to torrent of aggressive and sordid movies the contemporary puppies and bubble-gummers are at the brink of disaster. These people are more likely to display aggravated aggressive behavior in their real lives.
