The largest and most popular problem is damaging of brain cells (Bibby). Numerous individuals have tried to tie loss of brain cells to work related accidents as well as automobile collisions (Bibby). Even in HIV patients no matter how much pain it can relieve it still has the risk of damaging the immune system further and making the “Cocktail” of drugs they take less effective (Bibby). Marijuana used in such ways as marinol are actually much healthier and less toxic than multiple drugs currently legal (Medical). Those who believe that marijuana should stay illegal because of all the people that that abuse it need to understand that many other drugs are legal and people constantly try to get access to abuse them but the hospital system does an excellent job of keeping that at a minimum. It really is amazing that marijuana can be looked down on so heavily and yet opium is a common drug given very often in forms such as morphine, codeine, and oxydine (Medical). Medical marijuana’s good results are currently out weighing its bad results and it just needs to be seen as what it truly is; a drug that can help so many people all over the country.
Medical marijuana should be an accepted drug because of all the good it can do for patients and the basic fact that people deserve any care that might help them. All over new people are learning of the positive things that marijuana can do. When used properly and controlled it can do more good than a lot of drugs that are in current use.
