Medicare Subscribers be Prepared to Pay More for Less in 2010
Medicare is one of the most confusing messes the government offers up. Obama plans to cut alot of the subsidization to the Medicare Advantage Plan users in 2010. Clear you will pay more and get alot less. Deductibles will be increased substantially, and co-pays will be doubled in many circumstances.
Tufts has decided to drop its Tuft Medicare PPO RX, and push its clients into its HMO which has gone up in price by breaking out its Prescription plan, and increasing co-pays are limited to the doctors and hospitals in the plan. Mental Health benefits have been hit the worse in 2010 particularly for outpatient services with some visit co-pays as high as 40% if you are getting no benefit from the Advantage plan as that is what you get with Original Medicare. The 46 Million Medicare users will find that Insurers have substantially cut back choices in Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans and have generally raised premiums in the process. They are responding to continued inflation in health-care costs and government rules that could reduce the profitability of their Medicare policies. Obama’s push to devastate Medicare is in preparation of the public option he plans to put those who don’t have an employer to foot their health-care bill.

Of the total 46 Million Medicare users, 11 million people use Medicare Advantage (MA) policies for their Medicare coverage, and most of them choose MA policies that include prescription drug coverage. In 2010 there will be more dramatic deductions in the formularies meaning all your medications my not be covered. It will pay to look at the prescription co-pays and deductible as they will differ between plans.
So this year is the beginning of your health care getting more expensive and offering you less in benefits with larger deductibles and co-pays. It will be tough to bear in a year when social security got no increase.
