Many abusers of mental abuser honestly do not know the serious consequence of their words.
When they are so frustrated teaching mathematics to their kids, their temper flare. The mathematics sums are so easy, yet their kids do not understand.
They are likely to explain the same thing over and over, hoping that their kids finally understand the concept.
When their kids fail to understand, they are likely to scold their kids using words such as stupid, dumb, useless and other hurtful words.
They do not seem to realize that the words cut into the heart of their kids.
Sometimes, they realize the impact of mental abuse when the school counselor calls. Sometimes, they realize it years later when their kids are old enough to confront them.
That is why parents must never ever use abusive words unintentionally. The abuser has no intention of causing mental abuse. However, the hearer suffers the consequent of mental abuse.
If parents think that by making their kids angry is a form of motivation. They have to remember that this trick always backfire.
One kid may argue back, saying that he is stupid because parents are stupid. Another kid may keep quiet, and remember the words forever.
Both kids are victims of mental abuse. They may have different signs of mental abuse. However, they will not forget the hurtful words easily.
It is best for parents to use encouraging words, such as smart, clever, intelligent and wise.
Parents can encourage their kids by saying they are smart, and that they can solve the mathematics questions by focusing.
That definitely sounds better than saying the kids are stupid. Nobody suffers mental abuse from encouragement.
