But Microsoft decided to address a major EU courts, claiming that the EC has not been sufficiently clear in its requirements and has provided advice Microsofr enough so that it can avoid a large fine. The people at Microsoft say that the fine was undeserved and that would not have been the case to be imposed if the legislative bodies would have been more explicit when they made requests to Microsoft.
On the other hand, lawyers have said that Microsoft could soon identify exactly what was required.
This was actually one of the largest penalties ever imposed by the European Commission and attended previous fines imposed on Microsoft in June 2006 (280 million euros) and that martie 2004 (497 million).
In May 2009 Intel was also fined an amount greater than one billion euros for abuse of dominant position.
