Mostly Good or Mostly Evil
Poem.
What is the nature of a baby’s mind; Its psychological I.D.
In what is its initial bid to rule the world
Whether it be a boy or girl
Around the world clasps its fist in a curl
So tight that it would break
The ties to human rights of others left at stake
From the I.D’s narcissistic intent
To see that the backs of others are bent
In servitude to its wishes and whims
Where even the light of enlightenment dims
Before natures natural tilt of human personality
Towards the evil of a narcissistic self rather than moderated
By what must first be taught; The good of rationality
The question whether humanity tends to good or evil
Is known when it is known that to teach ethics
Is an upheaval of the human mind
And humanity must act accordingly in time
For human consciousness is also tilted forward
Its psychological pattern leans toward
Supplying within ourselves an aggressive confidence
Even when the means to this end has meant
One is confident while not seeing that one could be wrong
This psychological pattern is not unlike a song
Constantly being sung
With lyrics which constantly say
Any words that I speak every day
Are ninety-nine percent true (which can’t possibly be true)
And it matters not whether it be me or you
This perception, natures psychological standard, is necessary because it supplies energy
The necessary prerequisite egoism for to get all things done, and is the key
To how you can generate confidence in your attempts to be
But such confidence obscures most people’s ability to see
Whether one is right or whether one is wrong
One of nature’s most subtle syndromes
Liked it
