Move an Asteroid Approaching Earth
Move an Asteroid Approaching Earth.
An asteroid named 2012 DA14 was moving toward the Earth. The next year, the asteroid will be at a distance less than a few artificial satellites in orbit around the Earth.
On 15 February 2013, the asteroid will fly at a distance of 26,900 km. This distance is 6000 miles closer to some of the satellites orbiting the Earth at a distance of 35 700 km.
The asteroid was detected by the Spanish Observatorio Astronomico de La Sagra. The size of the satellite is about 4-50 meters, in a star shape relatively close to the Earth that hits the Earth and has a potential.
Astronomers will continue to monitor the asteroid to find out the exact size and location. According to astronomers’ predictions, as described Ria Novosti on Monday (2/27/2012), an asteroid of 50 meters could cause an explosion in the atmosphere, the amount 1,000 times the Hiroshima bomb.
However, they still need research to determine whether this asteroid will impact Earth or not.
