Myth: 97% of Climate Scientists are in a Consensus of Destructive Climate Change
by Once of the most sought out lies on the internet and media is that 97% of climate scientists agree that the climate change today is destructive and caused by mankind. We will explore the papers used to justify such claims and their validity.
You may have heard that 97% of climate scientists support that man is causing the global climate change and we are solely responsible for it. The cited reports are the Doran report and the Schnider report.
Peter Doran Report and the Schiner Paper

This is the most commonly cited report asserting a consensus in the scientific community. In a survey of 10,000 Earth scientists only 3,000 have responded. The authors have omitted this. They claim that 30% response poll is typical of an Internet poll. This is how the results should look like if they used proper statistical methods.
But Wait!!!….
This isn’t reflected in peer reviewd literature. If we use the biggest proponent of alarmism on the Internet: Skeptical Science (SS) and their own data:

We have a 48% agreement on Climate Change. A few skeptics including ‘Poptech’ have took the time to differentiate between ‘neutral’ and ’skeptic’ better than skeptical science. We now get a graph like this:
Where is that 98% consensus?

This list has more ‘clean’ scientists than the Doran Study and the Schnider study. The list has 146 ‘clean scientists’. Doesn’t that ruin our credibility? Well the Doran study had 75 out of 77 scientists used for the consensus figure. The Schnider study had 48 out of 50 for the consensus. 146 climatologists triumphs 77 or 50. So the final graph looks like this.
