Name Brand???
by Why do teens and tweens always prefer phones, clothes, and cars that are the "name brand"? are these items really that much better? this coming from a teen myself, I also bring up how these name brand items can casue bullying and cliques.
Walk down any Middle or High School Hallway, and you are bound to see iPhones, blackberries, and droids, areopostale, American eagle, and Hollister. They seem to be everywhere. But do you notice all of the old flip phones, the “chocolate bars”, and the basic cell phone, the hand-me-downs, and Wal-Mart clothes? Maybe, but why do people try and hide that.
I know personally that everyone loves when they get a new phone or a new shirt. Of course you would, people like to buy things, we are like animals and the “newest must have” is like our pray, and when we get it we want the world to know! But people are much more quite about receiving old hand-me-downs and getting a “free” phone. Why? Are the “name brands” that much better? I personally don’t think they are. I know that some people can afford all of the “name brands” and they aren’t bad people because they do. But the way people do become “bad people” is when they try and bully other students.
I know that there will always be bullying in a middle or high school. But i know personally that a lot of it comes from what people have, and it’s just weird. I do own an iPhone i have a mini cooper, and i do wear name brand. But i also think that there isn’t much of a difference. I some cases name brand items might be made better or have a better quality. But not always, there are a lot of items that aren’t name brand but are still very nice.
I think we all should be open to name brand items but also those items that aren’t, because they really are not that different. I hope people can accept different people’s ideas on what they can wear, or send a text on, or drive around, without bullying them, and accepting them.
