Narcissism 2: Murder of the Innocent

What is behind the on going controversy over abortion? What are the narcissistic characteristics which have shaped this hot issue?

In fifth grade Jessica felt that life was stacked against her. She had health problems, which affected her learning ability, she was taller than anyone in her class and often the subject of rude remarks and jokes, and she worried about her grandma’s health, and could not understand why her mom didn’t want her.

Working the lunch room, I noted this struggle, and tried to correct the rudeness of the children in her class. Jessica began to confide in me. I learned her sweet side, her courageous side, and her broken heart. She often voiced the fact she didn’t know why she was even born. My response, “because God has something special for you to do, and He made you just for this special job’.

By sixth grade I lost track of Della and Jessica as they moved and I had left the school for another job. Seven years later, we reconnected. I learned that Jessica was doing well from Della. She was in her first year of college. I had to see her to see how she had grown up and to see if she was okay with life.

A few weeks later, I had lunch with Della and Jessica. Jessica was a radiant young woman, possessing an inner joy, and confident in her goals of becoming an administrator of a pre-school. Jessica was taking classes at the local college and working part time as an assistant teacher for a pre-school. And she was in love with plans to be married within the following year.

This was a hard decision at the time for Sharon and Della. It was increasingly hard throughout Jessica’s school years. But it turned out so beautiful. God has promised in His Word that the good will always come to those who love Him and keep His commandments. (Romans 8:28)

God has a plan a purpose for every child conceived, this is another reason why abortion is a bad choice. However as has been disclosed in this article, the harms associated with any form of abortion should be sufficient information for a woman to make a choice for life. Abortion can only bring heart ache, regrets, depression, and the potential for future health problems. In addition there is a real risk of death as a result of the abortion.

Feeling Guilty Over Having Had an Abortion?

Where do you stand with God if you’ve had an abortion and are feeling consumed with guilt, depression, sadness and a desire to know how God feels about you?

God can and does forgive all our sins (mistakes).

Ephesians , Chapter one, verse seven (NKJV)

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to His grace…

Isaiah, Chapter forty-three, verse twenty-five ((NIV)

I, even I am the One who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.

And if God says He will forgive, He will forgive!

2 Peter, Chapter three, verse nine (NIV)

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Conclusion

There are many factors which have played into the issue to legalized abortion – greed arrogance, deception, self interest; these are all characteristics of narcissism. Like many of life’s huge decisions the abortion one will affect a woman for the rest of her life. Hopefully this article will have shed the light on this highly controversial issue.

This article is well researched, but I can’t tell which side you are on. “Abortions” in medieval times were done during wartime – the victor would take the virgins as wives or slaves, and the pregnant women would be “ripped open” to ensure that the conquered people could not rise up with the next generation.
Unwanted babies in ancient Rome & Greece were left in the woods or on rocks by the sea to die. Sounds barbaric, but our modern methods of slicing the fetus apart in the womb and then sucking out the pieces is much more barbaric.
