Needed Facelift for Corporate America

Speaking On The Topic Involving Background Checks…The New Trend Of Discrimination In Corporate America.

Where to begin…hmmm. As being a freelance researcher and a reject of classical corporate America, I figure at this point in time it is only fair to review the politics of this entity, which creates career opportunities and legally black balls potential leaders of America’s business structures.

This is not a social nor a race/cultural thing…if corporate America has learned anything within this new millennium , it has reluctantly accepted the fact, corporate America can no longer structure the race of individuals who are accepted through its doors. America is about diversity now…and the United States has accepted this fact, because its general political format is not the reflections of open minded Americans in this day and time. Information is free and regardless of what secret or mystical organization one is a member of, so-called elite minds do not have the right to hide, encrypt or be selective about who information is circulated to. All a curious mind needs to do is research and there is no organization within research, it’s a continuous desire to be in “the know”. With technology and the library of Congress…all one need is a topic.

Although corporate America has graduated to diversity, it has structure a new way to discriminate a potential employee due to one’s past experiences. Meaning background checks: consumer reports, school records, credit reports and rapport from past employers which can be terribly unfair. What if a potential candidate has qualified skills in his or her field, but had questionable social related occurrences with management or fellow employees in a prior position? Common sense…not a degree…however, common sense states: a past employer may give a bad review, which will cause the potential candidate to be disqualified for the opportunity being sought after.  And what of the 7 year background check…an applicant may have been legally misrepresented in a criminal case, which is a STRONG reality in America. I witness in the media quit frequently, how someone was found to be innocent for a charge he or she may have served years in prison for. Yeah…the state can be sued and compensate for the misjudgment; however, the financial blessing does not replace time lost…now does it? Let’s not forget that people can and do change from how they may have been at a younger age or at a different point within their lives. What about these people? Are they not allowed to be part of corporate America, earning more than above average income until the 7 year period is over or their record expunged?  So I guess it is fair for one to live in a state of unperdictability until his or her record is clear. Is this the message corporate America is pushing in this day and time? For if so, this is structured legal discrimination, which in turns plays on profile scenarios of different races of people…taking America right back to its foundation of “selective opportunity”. Of course state and federal laws prohibits such discrimination, having policies structured to prevent such acts; however, these policies are down played by background checks. Do you see the trap?
