New America
Power to the people or Power to the elitist?
Many Americans believed that the Aristocrats would claim absolute or more power of the poorer Americans, and thus idea of titles of nobility became a matter. Though very few thought that the American government would come to granting titles of nobility, the people did not know how to distinguish between classes. Thus, the Americans started to believe that their government would be for the active elites, and there would be a system similar to the ones they had in old times. This can be seen because the “gentlemen” did not question others of the same class about their wealth, nor did the people question their legislators. However, when an ordinary man went into politics, it would be considered just a noisy problem. However, it was believed that the development of a separation of classes could not fully be done because to affect that many people would require the changing of the entire United States Republican government.
