Next Generation on Voyage of Self-destruction?

Behaviour & actions of today’s teenagers & their effects on society.

It seems that almost everyday when we sit down to watch the news or read a paper, or even listen to the radio, we are informed of yet another young person dying tragically & for no reason. Contemporary society has reached a place where it has never been before in all of human history, & seemingly as the old adage goes ”it is going to get worse before it gets better”. Of course violence has always been a problem in society & in itself is nothing new to mankind, but the gargantuan proportions that violent crime has reached in recent years is staggering, & worryingly, the situation is spiralling way out of control. We are left with a myriad of un-answered questions as to how we reached this point & are left wondering if the situation can be salvaged before more lives are unnecessarily lost in these ignorant & random displays of cruelty. Human life is fragile at best & our time on this earth is very short, & this is a fact of life that a percentage of todays youth just dont seem to comprehend. Perhaps the reason for this is that they are still young & have not learned any life-lessons yet, but on the other hand, being young does not excuse ignorance or sadistic behaviour, especially when the person in question is old enough to make better decisions about their actions & the eventual consequences of those actions on other people.

How best then are we able to teach todays youth that ignorance is a sickness, & that their self-obsessed, immoral modern attitude is slowly sowing the seeds of their own destruction? We must understand that the modern age that surrounds the adolescent of today, is totally different from the world that surrounded the youth of a decade before, & as more change occurs in every aspect of our environment & lifestyle, we must therefore accept that change occurs for those who live within it. Especially we must pay attention to the overriding influences in our youths lives; media influence, music, culture, drugs & alcohol, peer pressure etc. All of these together are a powerful combination & any one alone is enough to plant that 1st seed of destruction. Ignorance is the problem. Ignorance will destroy everything it touches without fail. Ignorance it seems for todays youth is a defense mechanism that allows them to act how they want without care or regard for others. Their self-image is all important & above all other considerations, unfortunately they do not seem to want to think or act as individuals, & the popular attitude is to go with the group, to do what everyone else does, & be part of the crowd.
