“No Cell Phone Use Increases The Risk of Brain Cancer”
Prolonged use of mobile phones does not cause brain tumors or central nervous system, a new Danish study published today in the online edition of the "British Medical Journal"
The work, the largest in the field to date found no evidence that could demonstrate an increased risk of developing a brain tumor in the 358,403 mobile phone users that have been studied for over 18 years.
Under the guidance of the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Copenhagen (Denmark), the researchers collected data until 2007. Thus, analyzed data from the entire Danish population aged over 30 and born after 1925. The population was divided into users and nonusers of mobile phones by 1995. This information was provided by the Danish mobile phone operators and the Danish Cancer Registry.
This is the only follow-up study has investigated the use of mobile phones and cancer to date have compared the risk of developing cancer from 1982 to 1995, with the risk for the rest of the adult population. Also, revisions were made in 1996 and 2002, and have not found any evidence showing an increased cancer risk.
In total, there were 10,729 tumors in the central nervous system between 1990 and 2007. When these figures were restricted to people who had used the phone for 13 or more years, the percentage was virtually the same compared to the corresponding to the population that does not use the phone.
Need for further studies
Experts say they have not seen a general increase in cancer risk for users. ”The long follow-up has allowed us to investigate the effects on people who have used the phone for 10 or more years, and this long-term use is not associated with increased risks of developing cancer,” ongoing. ”However, as increased risk of both mild and moderate, in small groups of very active users for periods longer than 10 or 15 years, can not be ruled out, future studies will ensure a more extensive analysis, so that minimize potential errors in the classification or selection bias. “
In 2010, the world existed more than 5,000 million people using mobile phones, a figure that increases every day, which led to a concern about possible adverse health effects, particularly central nervous system tumors.
Previous studies on this subject had not reached a conclusion accurate, especially prolonged use of mobile phones. Some of these works had few long-term users and had shown a tendency to error and bias.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer recently categorized radiofrequency electromagnetic fields emitted by mobile phones as probably carcinogenic to humans. In an accompanying editorial, teachers Anders Ahlbom and Maria Feychting of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, have said that this new evidence is reassuring, but still justifies the continuity of control of health records and possible follow-ups

Yes,I’ve read about this …we are advised to use a headset to avoid direct contact with the mobile phone and radiation.

I’m not convinced. I hardly use mine but when I do, I end up with a hot, sore ear.

What a surprise. In the past, we used to receive alerts that the radiation was harmful.
