No More Bullies! It Has to Stop!
Bullying..
No More Bullies Why bullying needs to stop.
October 21, 2010 — It’s hard to read the news nowadays and not hear of at least one story about a child who committed suicide because he or she was bullied constantly by his or her classmates. Personally, if I read one more story on it, I am going to cry very hard.
When a child is growing up, aren’t they always told to “just be yourself” and to “treat others fairly”? If we are teaching kids these kinds of morals, then why is it that children, as well as adults, are still being teased, mocked, harassed, tormented and bullied for being different each and every day?
Schools teach children signs of bullying and how to stop a bully, but do the schools take action against bullying at all? I’ve known many people who have been made fun of all because they are different. A lot of these people have gone to someone they trust in hopes that it would all stop, but all that I’ve heard happens is that the bully comes in for a talk, usually they say something like, “It wasn’t like that” and end up being let go. Meanwhile, the bully still torments the bullied in the same, if not worse, manner.
Why are schools letting this pass by them? Recently, we heard in the news that families of bullied children who committed suicide are suing the schools for allowing the bullying to continue. Schools say that they have policies against bullying and encourage children to talk to a school staff member if they or someone they know is being bullied, but in the end what do they do? If the bullied child stands up for his/herself, in the end, the bullied child is the one who gets the punishment that the bully deserves.
What’s even worse is that sometimes, in order for children to prevent becoming a bully’s next victim; they will join the bully in the tormenting, even though they realize that it’s wrong to do. Why must children be forced to do what his/her classmates do in order to prevent becoming a victim of bullying? Why must children hide what makes him/her unique?
Bullying needs to stop. People need to realize who the correct victim is.
Being different is unique, and others should not stop you from doing what you want to do.
