Obama puts Urban Renewal as “Priority”

I cannot remember a time in my life when we took a different approach to our countries urban problems.

We have drugs, vandalism, gangs, school dropouts and violence. 

I ask you to pick one of these groups, and then imagine one of your children involved in any one of them. At this point…I don’t blame you for expecting any of your local ‘officials’ to be a little bit smarter than any of the participants in these groups. I am sorry to tell you (I think) that your child is smarter than all of them put together.

How much money is going spent, building houses that are going to be over taken by any, if not all of these groups?

I don’t know about you but picturing a child of mine in either of these groups is a scary thought.  I would like to think the parents of the young people that live in these conditions would be outraged that this is the best our local Government can do?  For decades… we have sectioned off a portion of our cities and deposited likeminded and financially compatible people together and told them how to apply for free stuff.

If I were poor, I would want someone to give me a job.  I would hope there was a way to advance.  I would live away from the poverty neighborhood and prayed for its collapse.  I would be angered at the local Government for promoting such a situation that brings only THEM money, instead of bringing opportunity to the people that elected them. 

I also would like to know, why we don’t insist that the people we give tax dollars to be obligated to participate in training programs.  Why do we not have anything available in grand scales to change the situation?  I want to know why I have to be drug tested when seeking employment but the recipients of my hard-earned tax dollars do not?

If we rewarded people for turning in any abuses to the system, we may have results that can give honest people a lift out of the deplorable conditions that our government intends they stay in.

I believe there are corporations that could benefit with tax breaks if they developed such programs.  Use the minds of the entrepreneurs and reward any positive results.

Imagine you have two children, one a hard-working honor student, one a gang member, which one would you trust to hold your wallet?  Don’t give that child your wallet that has not proven to be trusted.  Give that child your attention, your love… guide that child and ask your own family to help.  Insist that your local Government create jobs in these communities.
