Offensive Political Correctness

People who insist on Political Correctness (or short PC) usually think they are doing something against offensive language. They blithely ignore the fact that their insistence is more offensive than language. And they are never aware when the real insult is to someone or something else than what their narrow minds allow for.

HRH Prince Philip is often cited as a source for politically incorrect utterances and rightly so. I seem to be a rare specimen to find them amusing. I will admit that most of them are remarks that really are not up to par. They lack refinement and polish to become truly offensive, and I despair of him polishing them up in his dotage.

The people criticising him, though, are usually by far more offensive than the prince. They manage to expound on basically harmless little jokes in a way that is truly offensive. Their explanations as to why they think PC has been breached are usually racist, misogynist, homophobic, or demeaning and more often than not a combination of several of those terms. They usually manage to expose themselves as the hypocrites they are.

While in the case of Prince Philip they have the excuse of acting in the public domain, more often than not they are just breaching privacy. Some time back there was the cry for a holy war against Prince Harry because he nicknamed a fellow officer Paki (at the same time they ignored the fact that that officer called Harry Ginger). Unable to enter human feelings, they cling to words that might be offensive in some countries, ignoring that they may lose their offensiveness if used differently.

But then, they have neutered themselves so far down that they wouldn’t understand a truly offensive remark if it hit them in the face. It probably has to do with a lack of education or just a narrow vocabulary; it certainly has to do with lack of imagination and creativity. The inventors of PC had the mental agility of a turnip and the brainpower of vegetable. I know that is truly offensive, and I hope that any vegetables and turnips reading this will forgive me.

PC persons often are also very good at promoting gender equality. I’ll be prepared to listen to their explanations just as soon as men bear children and women make up a majority of the army. But I am sure words like bridepersons are essential to PC thinking. My spellchecker objects to the term brideperson; could it be that the true offensiveness of bride and groom has not yet entered what goes for a brain of the truly politically correct? How odd.

Searching my dim memories of my schooldays, I seem to remember that humanity propagates through male and female and not through persons. A truly political correct person therefore would never stoop to something as incorrect as marriage and having children. That might explain how they missed bride and groom. It also gives me hope that they will breed to extinction in the near future.

And if anybody wants to feel offended by my articles; please do feel free to do so. I am the last person who would want to diminish your enjoyment of life. Your being offended doesn’t offend me in the least, and that is what really counts, isn’t it?

    Absolutely!

My standard reply these days to those who pull the I’m / that’s “offensive” card is: “Deal with it. If you like I could recommend a psychiatrist for your issue. There are pills they could prescribe.”

I find it offensive that people today do not have the capacity to listen to & debate facts & opinions.. often playing the politically correct card rather than think.

@Robert: LOL – I think that is one of the funniest ideas I received so far; making them waste their time on a psychiatrist instead of wasting your time seems an apt revenge :D
