Orphanages: Will You Care The Abandoned Children?
It was asked before: Is the increasing number of orphanages for the neglected, abandoned, and abused children creating a culture of dependency to others? When an adult woman get into a hetero carnal relationship, and thereafter gets pregnant – was that an unplanned pregnancy you think? Who are the involved parties to protect the rights of the child, if the parents cannot do so?
Our society frowns upon unmarried single mothers, because it magnifies the shortcoming of a dysfunctional family having a child out of wedlock or perhaps, letting into this cruel world a child without proper preparation and the burden it is passing unto the community.
If we have to be biblical, it is said in one of Jesus’ sermons that we have to“ be child-like to enter the gates of heaven..” but what if to be a child will mean illness, neglect, abuse, abandoned, and being malnourished? Is the spirit of these children dying too? Am sure not. The spirits of these children are so pure it will make you cry looking at their innocent stares, in their most miserable malnurished state.
Have you been to an orphanage? You should. We all should find time to visit an orphanage nearest to our community to be privy of how they are operating the center and check if you can help somehow – its very fulfilling. Give your support. Private individuals whose generous hearts involved themselves in the care of the sick, abandoned, neglected, and abused children must be highly commended. This is one endeavour that not everyone can comprehend why time, money and efforts should be spent to children whose parents doesn’t even care to check how their children’s welfare are being taken cared of by other people.
One of the orphanages we visited is the Our Lady of the Divine Grace Children Foundation, in Sibonga, Cebu. It started with just one abandoned child few years ago, to a nearly 30 children now, whose care and sustenance daily is being shouldered by a private individual, Liz Corpuz, whose heart to the needy is so amazingly unbelievable.
Currently, they have a problem of proper place to house the growing number of children. The sleeping quarters’ too crowded already, they lack some rooms for their free schooling project, not only those housed in the Center, but for also the children of marginal farmers in the nearby community. They are inviting donors or sponsors to keep the orphanage going and for the care of these abandoned children.
So much dreams in a much demanding environment - lets help and be involved!
