Political Correctness: A Commentary

The concept of political correctness could be confusing, particularly when political imperatives are necessary in the way of a country’s defense and security.

There is an element of danger, ignored by the consideration and application of the two words, “political correctness.” There is a  fear that, overlooking such a concept, while emphasizing on the realities of politics, might be misconstrued as bigotry and racism, so much so that it stands in the way of security and defense.  Coining words that are clouded by uncertainty, at a time when the whole world is confronted by terrorism, could backfire and expose us, not only to danger but to downright ridicule.

Consider the chaos that would have occurred had the concept of political correctness been applied during World War II when enemy agents and spies were plotting and planning to sabotage the security of the United States of America and our allies in Europe.  These two words, “political correctness,”  could have cost us dearly in terms of incalculable heavier losses.

While “political correctness,” might persist, regardless of how the term is defined,  two other words, namely, “political imperatives,” should also be echoed in the corridors of world politics.

It is hard for an ordinary person to keep up with political correctness i hate it example off the top of my head, when i was growing up my mother said “Dont call black people black the right term is coloured” spin 20 years forward and refer to a black person as coloured they will reply “Coloured oh i see what colour is that purple!” we are victims of P.C. every one of us. Good article.
