This article is on poverty. Poverty brings in crime. Crime rates are increasing due to lack of education and poverty.

                        Poverty- Mother of All Crimes

Poverty truly affects life chances. The question is how? Let us explore the causes of poverty. Education seems to play a major part in it. It is the key to success where ever you go. Poor education leads to no job. If there is no job there is no money. Money is required for everything. Poor economic background leads to various problems. It leads to poor hygiene, poor living conditions and the like. With lack of basic amenity man makes way to earn money through theft and other illegal traits. Poverty grasps the children quite early in its clutches. They are not sent to school. Instead they are sent to earn money. This is the starting of child labor. Child labor is the basic exploitation of children. Small kids are forced to sell drugs and are forced to work into many illegal trades. Young girls and boys are even forced into prostitution and suffer many STD diseases at an early stage of their lives. This leads to high mortality rate and a lower fertility rate.

You can’t get rid of poverty by giving people money.  ~P.J. O’Rourke, A Parliament of Whores

Due to lack of good standards of living the women are undernourished and so are their babies at birth. They succumb to, many diseases; they are usually underweight at birth. By teenage they become venerable to many diseases. They become so weak that their immunity deteriorates and they fall easy prey to various viral infections. This can be improved by providing proper public health systems to these women.  The health care authorities should give a regular checkup to the sex workers so that their STD and other diseases get diagnosed at the earliest. The society should educate such underprivileged ladies with proper lessons on personal hygiene and health. Education and steady job will eradicate infant diseases and other terminal diseases; there will be a lift from poverty zone.

Every human has the right to basic education. It helps get an honest job that produces a decent income necessary to run a family. Many find it difficult to get even one square meal in a day. This quotation rightly says “Society comprises two classes:  those who have more food than appetite, and those who have more appetite than food.  ~Sébastien-Roch Nicholas de Chamfort, Maximes”. The medical expenses like medicines and vaccines also cost money. Though government hospitals do provide free medical aids, still all illnesses aren’t cured. Since the need of money is more, parents forcefully send their kids to work. So there are more and more high school drop outs. Children are deprived of their basic rights to education. Instead they have to work for their livelihood. This follows suit in all families residing closely. Lack of money is closely associated with hunger which finally leads to quarrel and fights between couples. Frustration shows the way to crime. Hence, the crime rate goes up.
